So who is effected more by this "addiction"? The media has not exposed society to Sex Addiction enough for it to be socially accepted and understood. If a man had been "diagnosed" as a Sex addict, will he be treated the same way as a woman with the same symptoms? Are men and women treated in the same manner in Sexually related topics in general? Typically women are targeted in these situations, then labeled. But why? If a man sleeps with 10 women, its just 10 more notches on his belt....a woman sleeps with 10 men, then all of sudden those 10 men made her a slut!?!?! Society has allowed people to accept that men can get away with sleeping around, when women can't. So what if your thought process hasn't allowed you to be monogamous? Is that same women still a slut because she can't control her sexual compulsiveness? Maybe if more women stood up and said "how am I any different than you? Man has claimed that this is human nature... not just the nature of a man..." then maybe, just maybe, voices would be heard. I truly believe that men are generally more accepted in Sexual topics by themselves, let alone in Sex Addiction, but why? What has made people cater to a mans' Sexual needs and/or tendencies than a woman s'?
